When is the 2012 Festival?


The 2nd Annual Palo Alto Int’l Film Festival takes place Thursday September 27 – Sunday September 30, 2012..

Where can I buy tickets to an individual film?


Individual tickets for films are for sale on Festival Genius. Search or browse for the film you want to see and click the “BUY TIX” button. Follow the instructions to make your purchase. Ticket sales for each film ends the day before the screening at midnight. You can purchase tickets the day of the screening at each venue and at the Box Office. The Box Office is located at Festival Headquarters at the Garden Court Hotel. If you are trying to purchase a ticket for a film that has been listed as “wait-list”, you can only purchase those tickets at the venue the day of the screening, but only if space is available. To gain access to all Films, see below.

Where can I buy Passes for the entire Festival?


Passes are on sale through Eventbrite and at the Box Office at the Garden Court Hotel. Passes can be purchased throughout all four days of the Festival.

Where do I pick up my pass?


Passes are available for pick-up at the Box Office at the Garden Court Hotel which is open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. September 27 – 30, 2012, You can also purchase a pass there.

What kinds of passes are available? Why should I buy a pass?


Passes allow you to experience more of the Festival.
Festival Passholders ($150) receive priority access to Films and Talks, as well as access to our Wine Bars.
Festival Pass PLUS ($350) holders receive all of the above in addition to access to Parties, Opening Night VIP Party, Closing Night Awards Gala, and VIP Festival Kickoff Party in Los Altos Hills.
Patron Gold ($1,190) Passholders receive all of the above, in addition to Concierge Service to ensure you the best Festival experience, VIP bag, PAI membership, and invites to special events throughout the year.

In which venues will PAIFF take place?


PAIFF is centrally located in downtown Palo Alto. Confirmed venues include:

The TechCU Festival Village (High Street, between University Avenue and Hamilton Avenue) is home to our free Outdoor Theater, wine bars, food trucks, music and VIP Lounge.

Talks are held at Talenthouse (542 High Street).

Purchase and pick-up passes at Box Office at Garden Court Hotel (520 Cowper Street), or attend one of our Youth Workshops here.

Our two theaters are downtown Landmark’s Aquarius Theater (430 Emerson Street), and two screens at Cinemark’s Palo Alto Square (3000 El Camino Real).

The Technicolor Certifi3D Workshop will be held at Technicolor (735 Emerson Street).

What Films will screen at PAIFF?

Palo Alto Talks is a series of conversations that bring together innovators in the film and technology industries to discuss the future of media.

What are the Sallie Gardner Awards?


The Sallie Gardner Awards are awarded at the Closing Night Awards Gala. Passholders and VIPs are invited to attend, based on space availability.

Tell me more about the 4 FREE Outdoor Films.


PAIFF is hosting 4 FREE films each night of the Festival. The 3D Outdoor Theater has 500 first-come, first-served seats and room to bring your own chair. Screenings begin at 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

Thursday September 27: Opening Night in 3D
Paperman (3D), a Disney Animation Studio’s Short Film.
Dial M for Murder (3D), Hitchcocks’ famous film, originally shot in 3D

Friday September 28
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, 30th Anniversary presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Tell me more about Festival Village.


Festival Village not only is home to our Outdoor 3D Theater, but is the central location of the Festival.
Wine tasting is included for passholders and the general public can purchase tasting tickets at the Festival Village. Wineries vary by night. Wine Bars are open September 27 – 30 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Live bands will be performing on Thursday and Friday of the Festival.
The TechCU VIP Lounge is available to select passholders, speakers, filmmakers, and sponsors.
Food trucks will also be parked just outside the Festival Village and vary by night.
Beer and wine will also be for sale during the Film.

Grab a bite to eat and sip a glass of wine while you enjoy the film.

Do I need to be a passholder to enjoy the Wine Bars?


While wine tasting is included when you purchase a pass, tickets to the Wine Bars are available to the general public as well. For $10, you’ll receive 3 tasting tickets. Wineries vary by night. Wine Bars are open September 27 – 30 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Digital Native Youth Program

What Films will you be screening as part of the Youth Program?


The 2012 Festival Program is now available.

Our Youth Films and Family Friendly Films will play at both theaters during the Festival. Youth Films are $7.


Will you have Youth Filmmaking Workshops?


We have four movie-making workshops for youth divided by age group. Workshops are $20 and will be held on Saturday September 29 at the Garden Court Hotel.
This workshop will take students behind the scenes and expose them to the entire workflow film production. Students will be learn the importance of pre-production including storyboarding, shot lists, casting and finance; the process of production from directing and camera operation to craft services and call sheets; the power of post-production including editing, color correction and the magnitude of distribution strategy and social media marketing will all be covered.

3 p.m. Youth Workshops for Ages 13-15.
